I think they are ok for a smallish community, but they dont have alot of media at all and are really strong, few fish have been chopped up by them :good:

Ive been very happy with the water quality BUT a minnow got caught behind mine. I filled the space with filter wool and it didnt happen again. They seem fairly quiet too. But as mine has only been going a couple of months I suppose its early doors. Its in my children's tank and it only has 3 white clouds and 3 platys in.

we have one in our guppy tank, we too had the trouble of a fish getting stuck, so filled is with filter wool, we have never had any problems with it, haven't had any fish sucked in that we know of, maybe the odd fry but they tend to swim in ther for cover, is a nice quite filter, good for smaller tanks

If you're after the smallest internal filter, I'd go with either a Hagen Elite, or a Fluval Plus 1. The Fluval takes a couple of decent sized sponges, whereas the Hagen is probably best for a small fry tank.

I've got one a stingray 5 i think, its crap

Well it gives a really good flow around the tank (only a 5 gal tank) but it holds a pathetic amount of media in it
