First of all, early happy birthday. Second, pics always help us tell, but if not available, how long has she been pregnant? She could just have eggs which is the gravid spot you would see. :D ~blitztidus~

I have platies too, and my females have looked pregnant for months and nothing happend. I've had them about 5 months and only had 2 babies. I do know they do get stressed very easily and abort their pregnancy at the minimum amout of distress. Just be patiant and they will come.

Hi,

In my experience (which I say is not huge) a very pregnant platy will look, if viewed head on or from the back, square in shape.

I have 3 pregnant platies at the mo. 1 is only just pregnant and doesn't look any different, 1 is just fat and the 3 looks like a balloon thats about to burst. In fact yesterday she spent the whole day sat on the bottom, hiding under the filter. She only came out long enough to feed and get stroppy with the other fish. Today she has started giving birth. I'm thinking yesterdays behaviour was a sign.

Could it be though that she has had her fry and the others have eaten them? Just a thought but I always place the expecting female in the tank on her own then remove her once I think she has finished.

Hope this helps
