One of my platys body is covered in white fluffy looking spots, they look ragged and flaky.
All of the fish are flicking and rubbing on items in the tank, other fish are picking at the more poorly ones, leaving it erratically darting about the tank. Some havent got any visible spots whatsoever.

Many times ive tried and failed to remove whitespot and im really fed up with it. Just wish i could get rid of it and move on and watch a happy tank !!!

Any help and comments would be muchly apprectiated !! :good:

My fish had Ichthyophthirius multifilis - Ich.
I removed it in 10 days with JBL Puncktol and high temperature 29C.
I also took out all my decoration and clean them with a higher concentration of Puncktol.
What meds did you use and for how long?

What meds are you using? (i use waterlife protozin).
I noticed you said some are flicking and not showing visible signs of ich this could be internal parasites, if so i would recommend waterlife sterazin.

Keith.

doesnt sound like ich to me . ich will appear as if the fish is covered in grains of salt . if the spots seem fluffly like you describe it sounds more like velvet

does it look like this ?

if so try protozin by waterlife

. I have tried a lot of meds so I am sure I still have 2 waterlife meds, for flukes and whitespot. The fish which has the ragged fluffy spots is a dalmation platy -_- so I can't tell very well as he is mainly white. however when I look at his body I see bits flaky cotton wool looking.
I don't even know what it is anymore !! I'm so frustrated. X

it deffinately sounds like velvet to me .
Ok then I will start treating for velvet tomorrow morning and see jow it goes as I have used the waterlife anti white spot med with no results as within a week they are flicking, even without visible spots. What's very weird though is that my corydora and tetras are unaffected. No change in behaviour and no flicking or erratic movements.
