I've had a male and female red wagtail platy since the end of August. After all this time I was sure I would have at least had one batch of babies born. So far not a sign of a single fry. The female has looked possibly pregnant since a week or so after we got her, but so far nothing. I doubt she has had any since she has never become smaller like my molly did after she gave birth.

Any ideas why there have been no babies?

Here's a recent pic of her:

they some times have fry and you dont see them. if they hide in gravel. platy fry are really tiny also. and clear so she might have but you never saw them.

Hi,
they may have been eaten,
or she may not feel the tank has the right conditions for her to give birth in,
how many females have you got, 2-3 per male is a good number to avoid stress on to one female,
she looks healthy, feed her veg in her diet and brine shrimp / bloodworm ect,
dont worry i have a female platy thats been very pregnant for 4 months and shes never had any either and we dont know why. good luck with her Donna :)

We have 2 females and one male. Just got the 2nd female about 3 weeks ago. I do feed them vegetables and they get bloodworm 2-3 times a week. I am going to take a guess then that they might have been eaten if she has had any babies. I have 8 bloodfin tetras and a male molly in the tank with them, as well as 4 corys and a plec. Water conditions are excellent, so I doubt that would be the reason.

Oh well, one of these times I might catch her having babies.
