I know that female mollies store the sperm or whatever for up to six months... but do they regularly get pregnant like they would as if they had a male in with them?

I have a female that I've owned for about two or maybe three months. She was HUGELY pregnant when I got her and gave birth within a week. She hasn't had any fry since then. She hasn't even looked pregnant since then. I have had her in with another female molly and two Glo-Fish.

So, is she just not going to have any more babies? I don't understand why she hasn't been pregnant again if they store the stuff for up to six months. Her belly hasn't changed at all in size since she had the first babies.

Well their are a number of theories on whether or not livebearers store sperm. Some of the experts will tell you that the female will just use the sperm for developed eggs or developing eggs and keep some around for the eggs that havent developed enough yet, hence storing sperm. I cant say I've ever seen a livebearer store sperm for 6 months though... And if she hasnt gotten pregant again in 2-3 months chances are she wont until another male is around.

I got the six months from on here. Alot of the people in this forum remind people that they store sperm for six months so even after they aren't in with a male they will keep having babies... and I was just wondering what was happening with mine. Neither one of the girls has had babies since I bought them (the first girl had babies a few days after I got her... the other one never had babies).

The true process, while up for debate, generally gives you similar results. Babies every month or so for six more months after mating.

Then my guess is the boys left these two girls alone at the store, cuz I've had both of them for about two months... Oh well. When I get my house then I'll have more room and maybe then I'll get a boy and they can have babies then.
