Anyone ever used King British Stress Guard, i got some today, it was cheapest one there, but I am now not sure if this is for a reason (Its not that good!)

I occasionally use a stress coat when doing mass reorganization to or redecorating of a tank. I have no clue if it helps, but it makes me feel better

I'm not familiar with the brand you mentioned... the bran d I use is simply called 'Stress Coat' (by aquarium pharmaceuticals, Inc)

I use Stress Coat also as my dechlorinator at water changes.

Leon,
I think you have it correct. Take tap water, add the suggested amount of Stress Coat (or other conditioner) and the water is usable for your tropical aquarium. That is making some assumptions that your PH and other water parameters are where you want them.

i thought you had to use a dechlorinator too for tap water?
ive heard of the brand you mentioned, some people i know think its great, as far as stress coat stuff goes. Ive enevr heard anything bad about it anyway

Hi leongreenway :)

I've never used this particular product since that brand isn't sold in the US, but I have heard good things about King British products.

If your tank is kept clean, and the Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels are what they should be, there is no need to add extra products. A simple dechlorinator that also removes chloramines is all that is necessary in most cases.

Stress coat types of products contain aloe which the makers claim will help the fish's' slime coats. If the fish is healthy to begin with it's not needed. The fish are processing water through their gills to get oxygen and some people believe that the aloe could coat their gills as well. I would never use it on a regular basis for this reason.

For most fish, your best bet is to leave the pH alone. Most commonly found fish will adapt to it and changing it will often cause more harm than good. :D

I bought a bottle of stress coat as dechlor. I've really overused it though :*) Mainly because I didn't have a spoon.

Like your Monty Python then Oohfeeshy

This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e
rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies!

I have been using it for years when changing water. Never had a problem. It is also good for fish damage, like when they crash themselves into rocks and such.

(Big balas, small tank=cuts and scrapes)
