sterile platies

Hey all

Ive had 4 platies since september, i used them to cycle my tank with.

I had one batch of fry from these guys about a week after we got them, and unfortunately we lost them all but since then, absolutely none!

Im sure that it is indeed two males and two females

any ideas on why this might be?

I don't know, but if you've somehow created a strain of livebearers that don't give birth you need to breed and sell them right now.

i think they can be gay because i have the same problem with platies. they wont breed.

What are your test results in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.what size tank is it and how many fish and which type.

I was in a very similar situation. I had 1 male 3 females, they didn't breed for about 4 months. I thought this might be a problem with my male too (maybe he didn't like girls either )

Anyway I had this really aggressive Molly in an other tank, so I took him out and put him with my other ones. He started doing the usual, chasing them around the tank, especially the other male, he really stressed him out poor thing

I took him out after a couple of weeks, and a month later I've got new fry

I know this is a little off topic.. but talking about platie wierdness.
I had this platie...I swear it was a female..and all of a sudden about 2 weeks after I got it from my LFS..it was a male hence the Amelia changed to Amelius
