I'm trying to choose which one to have (or to have both!). Some people say just have 8xone type and others say have both in smaller numbers. Tank dimensions are 81x35x45 (LxWxH) and it's volume is 125l.

I'm trying to find out which one people like more, and which one everyone thinks is more suited to my tank.

Here's a link about sterbai cories and some pics:

And these are about Kuhlii Loaches:

Both, I've got both and wouldn't give up either.
Both do best in group of 6 or more and you have plenty of space for 6 of each and I don't think you'd be pushing it too hard to have 8 of each.

You sound like you want both, so go ahead and do it =)

Having kept kuhli loaches and corys, I can say that firstly, kuhlis are unbelievably hardy.
Secondly, kuhlis are MUCH more interesting to watch and my bet is that most people who vote haven't even ever had kuhli loaches.

That said, I'd get both because that's way more interesting. It's not like 6 of each is a small amount. If you had 8 of one type you wouldn't notice it that much more than having 6, and if you had 6 of both types it would be much better than having 8 of either type by far.

If you must pick one though DEFINITELY kuhli loaches.
Just look at these critters:

I voted for both but that would depend on there being room in your tank and a sand substrate. You don't mention what other fish might be in there as well. I keep both of them and enjoy them very much. :D

Firstly i'm jealous because i wanted more Sterbai Corys.

Secondly i was trying to choose between Khuli and Striata on the Loach front .

None of which is helpful so far  , if you've got sand get Corys :good:

Striata will pick off your pest snails, Kuhlis won't - if that helps you decide at all =)

Hi, and thanks for your replies.

As lots of people asked about sand- yes i do have sand because (even though a small amount is vacuumed away with gravel vacs) bottom dwelling fish (both cories and kuhliis) are supposed to like it better than larger stoned gravel ????. I hope this is true because I bought sand just for that purpose  .

Anyways, also the fish i'm planning on are:
2 Honey Gouramis
8 Harlequin Rasboras
2 Sheepshead Acaras
4 Apple Snails
5 Amano Shrimps
and some cories or kuhliis
I'm just worried I'll overstock or overcrowd the bottom levels of the tank if I put both in  , because I also would like to have amano shrimps and apple snails which are sort of bottom dwellers too  . Any advice and experience with this will be greatly appreciated :good: :)
