Hello, I think my chocolate gouramis have some kind of gill or body flukes and want to treat the tank. I was going to use Sterazin but was unsure whether it would harm my mormyrid. The other waterlife products specifically state if they are unsuitable for mormyrids, but sterazin doesn't mention anything.

Thanks.

for elephant nose and other related fishes (or scaleless species) you want to use a half dose of medication.

Colin what are mormyrids.

mormyrids are elephant nose and related species (Gnathonemus sp).
They are nocturnal and produce a mild electric field around their body and they use it to navigate their way around the place. Most of them have a long nose similar to an elephant's nose and this is used to grub out worms and insect larvae in the mud.

Thank you for the replies.

Wilder I have assumed that it is flukes as the gouramis seem fine apart from the flashing against leaves. There are no visible signs relating to any other illness.

Thanks.

Thanks colin.
Have you checked your water stats just to make sure the results are ok.

Ammonia = 0
Nitrites = 0
ph = 7

All seems fine, is there any other reason why they'd flash against plants?

Thanks

If thee flashing when water stats are good i more likely to be a parasite.
Lets us all know how you get on.
Good luck.
