Starve Fish?

Hey, i have read in one of the topics in this forum about the feeding guide for fish...i have heard about the basics in feeding but have never knew that starving your fish would be beneficial to them...Is this true??? Lets say, if you dont feed your fish once every week, it will be good for them??? Thats what i heard...if true, is there a reason???

I usually feed my fish once a day for 3 days then skip a day then 3, then skip 1 and so on...it is better for basic fish health as fish can overeat too which adds a bit of weight and increases waste...and less feeding benefits by increasing appetite - if they aren't eating as much they stay hungrier and are more likely to clean up all of the food, which in turn keeps water cleaner (less rotten wasted food/fish waste)...hard sometimes - they always look so desperate but they are like little children and sometimes mommy/daddy should say no!
