im wanting to start my own line i already have third gen guppys and i just want to know whether i just pick the ones that i want to breed the characteristics into my line and breed em together

thanks

Pick the fish with the characteristics you want. Breed them. Take the best of your offspring, and breed them. Continue until you get the desired trait continually.

However, this may take a lot of inbreeding. If you're in the 3rd generation already, you may start seeing a lot of the negative effects of inbreeding before you get the trait consistently. Keep an eye out, and baby the fry along a lot. :)

so every couple of generations would it help to add a fresh guppy

Yeah, a little. You'd still get some of the negative effects, but it wouldn't be as bad. :)

yeah im not really intrested in colour (yet!) i want to form a decent shape and finnage then a nice bluey colour with a hint of something else
