(cross posted from a couple other "Help" threads in the Welcome section - but the post in this section is intended to journal / discuss the planted part specifically, not problems I have with my fish/etc which is what the other posts were for)

I just bought some live plants, to see which ones end up working in my "starter aquarium kit" with the lighting etc. The plants were free as I got a gift card recently, so I said let's try it out. If I can get the "planted tank" going here then I won't feel like I'm missing out if I make my next tank mbuna instead of a big jungle scape : )

20 Gallon High - No CO2, 17 Watt T8 MarineLand Natural Daylight, playsand substrate - the lighting is a concern and I want to see if I can support plants or should spend the money on buying a bunch more plastic plants to fill in the tank.

I picked up anubias nana, Wisteria, and Amazon swords. I put in some root tablets by the wisteria and swords. These are NOT the final locations of these plants - I just wanted to see which ones live in the lighting conditions, and how tall they grow etc before I give the tank a for-real re-scape.
