Hey,
I'm going to pick up my tank tomorrow or the day after. I found some ammonia in my basement, but didn't know if it was good. It says it can be used to clean things like glass, but lists no ingredients. Also, I wanted to calculate how much i needed to add; but the % of ammonia listed on the bottle is 10-35%. Do i just take 22.5%?
Also, does stuff like Tetra safestart (http

Which method is best?
thanks

I don't think it did anything to help the process. It just lightened my wallet. If I were you I'd save the money on the Safestart and put it towards getting some good ammonia. Personally, I wouldn't trust the ammonia you found. You could give it the shake test. If it foams, it's no good for this as it has surfactants. If it were me, I'd just head over to Boots in the UK or Ace Hardware in the US and get some of the stuff that we know is safe. No sense in chancing it. If you use the wrong stuff it can kill your fish without you knowing why for quite some time into the future.
