Hello all, I just wanted to say I am starting out on keeping tropical fish, and I think this site has some incredibly useful, and well presemted info for beginners. I had no idea about "cycling" and I'm so glad I've read it up. My Dad had tropical fish when I was quite young, and I can cleary remeber his distress at setting up a tank adding de-chlorinator or what ever it was, spending money on nice fish, and watching them die in the next few weeks. Of course it all makes sense now, but the LFS obviously never mentioned these things and were happy to see us on our regualr forays to restock.
Actually picking up a tank today and have plants on order whcih should arrive next week... all part of a birthday present, though sadly having learned about cycling now I won't actually have any fish in the tank for my birthday.
Look forward to meeting some of you,

Firebelle

hi
welcome
you will get heaps of good advice, tips and information here :)

:hi: Firebelle!

I've never heard an LFS, even the ones I trust, tell people new to the hobbie about cycling I'm afraid. I have to try so hard to bite my tongue and not tell them off when I'm there!
:-(

You've defenately come to the right place though and will find lots of help from people who know what they're talking about simply becuase they've been doing it for years.
:D

Good luck with the cycle and new tank.

Ami
