Alright we have the 55 gallon up and ready to go. Our plan is to start with African cichlids. 2 elec yellow 2 elec blue either a frontosa or jewel. We also want to include a jack Dempsey and dalmatian molly. Are these compatible?

I posted this in the new tank sections and was told to post her also. I was also told that the molly would not be a good fit.

hi .
frontosa wouldnt really be suitable they are a colonial fish needing large groups and consequently very large tanks . also coming from lake tanganyika have different requirements to malawis and as such its generally advised against thew mixing of fish from different lakes . 2 of anything rarely works with africans , groups are the way to go with 1 male and several females of each species . a jack dempsey would be incomoptible to as again the requirements of the fish are different and the malawis could well be too agressive for it too. same with the molly , different requirements plus malawis would make mincemeat of it

The elect yellows and the elec blues can go together and you might get away with a jewel. The front isnt a great idea for a number of reasons and the dempsey is a american cichlid. The molly will prob get killed. You want to choose a lake and kept to the that rather than mixing diff fish from diffeent lakes etc.
