Hi, I have a 135 gallon that is freshwater right now and I want Monos and I heard they were brackish so I was wondering how I can make my tank brackish and what equipment I need and stuff.

Also, is there some kind of other small schooling fish I can keep with Monos? and if not just other tankmates

To go brackish you will need a Hydrometer or refractometer(to mesure salinity), and a quality marine mix. As far as Monos you need to tell me wich species you are going with. Monodactylus sebae is huge and does not require as much salt as Monodactylus aregenteus. Or I was lucky enough to get a hold of a rare dwarf mono (Monodactylus kottelati). Dwarf Monos are like minature aregenteus monos that like lots of salt. Depending on which species you choos e I can tell you what else you could have. When I used to have Monodactylus sebae (before they got to big.) I used to keep them with Brook Silversides (Labidesthes sicculus). I kept them at 1.007. Monos eat a lot. They destroy vegatation and small animals. I had a mean little blenny that used to beat on my sebaes really bad. The blenny was 2cm. The monos were 16cm. tall, 11 cm. long. Just be careful whatever fish you put with monos are to big to fit in their mouths.
