The old 15l tank in which my goldfish used to reside (yes i know, i cant believe it now i know stuffa obut fishkeeping).
I am deciding to bring it out of the cupbourd and turn it into a betta tank.

First of all, i need a heater. Bear in mind, the tank is acrylic. Whats the cheapest heater possible?
Second, im going to go for a sand substrate with some plants, something ive always wanted but never thought of doing when making the 60l.
Is this stuff ok? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/part...3EPLAY+SAND.htm

Anything else i need? Im fishless cycling btw so ill pop out and get some ammonia from boots.

Finally, if i decide ot fill the tank up today, before ive got the uber cheap sand, am i able to put the sand in AFTER the water?

Yep the playsand from argos is fine, although in a 15L you wont need much.

You can add the sand after the water if you like, but it may take some time to clear, so let it settle before you run a filter.

For a cheap little 25W heater - which is all you need, pop onto ebay :good: or ask in the buy/sell/swap forum :good:

Yeah I have a 15L tank which had a Betta in, I managed to get a heater for £6.00 off eBay.. it was from Hong Kong and took about a week to arrive. Not sure if your filter bacteria needs the heat to cycle =\
