Well, sometime this week I'm starting my fishless cycling! The tank is set up, the rocks are cleaned, the wood is soaking, and I'm more terrified than ever :X It's my first cycling ever, and super nervous!  I'm so scared I'll mess up badly  Any tips or words of confidence before i start???? Thanks you guys sooo much :good:

Crossfire - I assume you've read the stuff in the beginner's section? There's really nothing to it and you can't "mess it up" as there's nothing in there to hurt. I chose the "add and wait" method as there's less work involved. If you have any questions or don't understand anything in the beginner's section or the tank is doing something odd just post a question and I guarantee that you'll get and answer :)

Things to make sure you have:
Liquid test kit - API Mater Fresh Water or Salifert
Household cleaner from Homebase / Boots etc for the Ammonia
Patience as you're going to need a lot of it
Syringes as this makes doing the tests easier and also makes measuring the ammonia out easier

Don't bother putting plants in and we did the cycle with the tank covered by a thick table cloth to cut out the light.

Go for it and good luck. Look forward to all your questions :)

Yes, I have read the beginners section and I already have everything set up...its just i have to tendency to mess things up even if they're "unmessable" :S

You have read all the info you need to start so just go for it.

We are here to help.

It is impossible to mess it up. Even if you somehow manage the impossible there aren't any fish in your tank so it's okay. ;)

You'll be fine! At least you have taken this route rather than coming on here with a tank full of fish and ammonia levels through the roof. which happens almost daily :)

If in doubt, water out. :)

Thanks so much guys  , this forum is really the best  :hooray:
