Start Of Something Beautifull

i`ve just orderd my substrate and ei stuff and gt a co2 kit on the way...
I also see me asking lots of questions of the coming weeks and months. so thought i`d start one multi question topic.

1)
I know i have to cover most of my substrate with fast growing stemmed plants after first setting the tank up, but how long do i leave them before replacing them the plants i was acctualy wanting?

2) when cleaning the substrate with a siphon how clean do you guys get it? is it just a quick pass over or do you get in amongst all the plants?

3) i have a 60g tank measuing 24" high with 2.5 wpg will the intensity at the substrate be enough for glosso or would i be better sticking to planst such as hc?

thanks mate. roughly how long is it before i can start with my nice carpet of hc? are we talking weeks or months? before th alge monster is gone?

i was thinking the plants would use the poop and the stuff sent out as it breaks down but wasn`t sure

Thats a bit of an oxymoron, HC and glosso need similar conditions to grow well. But 2.6WPG on a 60G tank is a fair it of light and I would think even at 24" high you'd be ok. But I've never tried it personally so just my thoughts.
