your personal photo is for when members view your profile.
your avatar is the picture that appears on each and every post of your,
the more you post the more fish(stars) you will get.

mypapercuthurts if you look under the fish/stars you will see a thing that says posts (and then a number beside it) i think you have to reach about 80 posts to get your 2nd fish/star.
