Sorry for the really stupid question, I've had to get rid of my wooden stand as I couldn't get it level so I've got a metal stand like this which was much easier to make it level and going to get a new 60l tank today. Do I have to put a piece of wood on top of the stand before the fish tank goes on or does it just sit on as it is? Just got an image of the bottom of the tank falling out through the hole

Thanks :good: Being in a 1st floor flat with dogdy floors I'm just being extra cautious. Just got to choose which tank I should buy now

Hi there,

I use those stands as well, for added load spreadding and minimising stress (and peace of mind!) I always put a piece of ply wood underneath the stand (to protect the floor) and on top of the stand, then polystyrene sheet, then the tank...

\i've never felt comfortable without a solid continuous base under the tank.

I would prefer one aswell but my floor's not level and it's been easier to just prop up one leg than try to level out the flat base of a wooden stand. I'm now worrying that the bolts will have rusted and gone weak as it's quite an old stand

Hmmm check them if you can? Better safe than sorry, slow and steady and all that (yes I'm just as impatient too! :) )
