Hi,

I'm after a surface skimmer to take care of some occasional surface pollution in my tank, however I can only find ones that attach to the intake pipe of the tank's existing filter system.

Trouble is, having a Jewel filter, I don't have an intake pipe to attach it to.

Does anyone know if you can buy a stand-alone skimmer or one that doesn't need an intake pipe to attach to?

Cheers,

I'm not aware of one. The problem with a stand alone is that there would be no where for the film to go after it was skimmed unless it was going through a filter. I am running 2 Fluval 304s with surface skimmers on my 75 gallon and they work great. For some reason my water tends to get an oily looking film on the surface but that tank has absolutely none.
