My nerves are a tiny bit shot cos I don't know what I'm doing but I followed the instructions for setting up my filter etc in my new Rio 180. I put the sponges in (hopefully) the correct order and encountered Cirax. I hope that's spelled right. Is that filter media? If so why is it needed along with the sponges? My old filter just has the two sponges so that's all I'm used to. It's a Fluval 2. I left out the black carbon sponge as I've heard of people doing this and only putting it back in to remove meds, is that right?
The heater is in place and I think i have the pump thingy in right.
Stage 2 is adding the sand. I have a full bag in so I'll start washing the next bag tomorrow. I'll also soak my hunk of redmoor so I'll hunt for a suitable container tomorrow as I don't want to chance the bath in case of soap residue etc.
Sorry it's long-winded but I'm trying to avoid mistakes so I'll run everything by you guys as I do it if you don't mind.
