hiya,

i'm just wondering if any one can give me some advice on pump maintenence please?
my aquarium pump has been making a lot of squeeky noises lately and i'm not sure what to do with it to rectify the problem.
it didn't have much in the way of instructions when i bought it, it has 2 feeds coming out that go through an adapter and then i am just using one feed into the tank into the airstones.
theres a little filter bit on the underside of it.
it wasn't a very expensive pump, and it still works okay, just that the squeeking is annoying!

any ideas !? thanks

Viv

air pump has an eletromagnet / rubber diaphram inside and a metal pivot that is magnetically moved by alternating current through electromagnet . clean the air filter and let it dry.
Disconnect the pump from mains and apply a little light machine oil to the pivot

Or, do what those of us in the world who have no mechanical ability whatsoever do, get a new one:)

well I did wonder, as it does sound a bit technical for me ! if i undo it i'll probably lose some of the bits anyhow!

( buying a new one would be the next resort! )
