Generally how long before a guppy gives birth does her belly square off? By the time I realized my first pregnant guppy's belly had squared off, she was already birthing. I know what a guppy looks like when it's ready to give birth, but my question is, how long before she gives birth will her stomach square off?

I currently have about 3 pregnant guppies (and 2 look ready to pop any time now). Both of the heavily pregnant ones have had their stomach's start to square off. Though, they don't look like my birthing guppy did.

I don't want to put one/them in the breeder box (net didn't work too well for me) too late or too soon. So, that is why I ask what I did.

And, now that my rambling is over, thanks :D

Mine square off. They kind of remind me of little tugboats. As to when they birth I can't help as I'm still learning. I just watch for fry and try to get them out.

I notice it sometimes 2 days before they give birth. I also notice when their eyes get really close to the anal fin, it should be at any time.

thanks :D I've been watching both of my heavily pregnant guppies closely, and they seem to have squared off a bit, but not a lot. they're only in the middle of their third week of pregnancy, but I wasn't sure if maybe they had come from the LFS already pregnant (like one of my others, who has already had fry) or if they were just a little...fat :p

thanks again :D
