Spray Bar

I have an Eheim filter running in my Rio 180 tanks as well as the built in 600 l/hr filter.

The Spray bar on the Eheim external filter causes the tank to have a massive amount of current,flow.
I didnt notice this until i put a plant in and it broke free,it was pushed all over the tank very quickly.

I dont want to turn the flow down to much on the Eheim as i would prefer the extra filtering.

Do i need the spray bar or can i Remove it and just flow the water with the pipe?,Its the jets of the spray bar causing the massive flow.

The internal filter is set to disturb the surface.

I will be putting Cardinal Tetras,Black phantom Tetras and a pair of Bolivian Rams.From what i have read,tetras like low to medium flow.

i took the cap off the end of the spraybar mine so most comes out the end but some as spray.

You could drill more holes in the spray bar or enlarge the existing ones. A more expensive solution would be to use lily pipes.

Drilled the holes out and have drilled a hole in the end cap.

Perfect,Still running the filter at 75-80% and its not like a washing machine.

you could try pointing the spray bar at the back of the tank glass so it loose some of its force but still having maximum power if that makes sense

as above this is what i did pointed it at the tank glass made alot of difference

Thats good advice about the spraybar, i am going to try it as the current in my tank is kind of fast.
