The fish you have in your tank will likely be healthier if there is some algae in the tank. Your plecostomus will normally do a good job of keeping it to a minimum. Also your swordtails will pick at it.
When you cycle your tank, the ammonia is turned into nitrite, and then the nitrite is turned into nitrate. Nitrate is an excellent fertilizer, so you are going to get more and more algae growing if you don't do regular partial water changes or have plenty of plants growing in your tank.
I personally don't worry about algae. I look at it as a sign of a healthy tank, and when I notice it starting to get "out of control", I know I need to take action.
Every tank's "balance" is different...just keep an eye on things.
