Hello all,

I am currently treating my tank with anti-internal bacteria treatment. I have done this after posting all my stats the other day after finding a bloated cherry barb. I have double dosed on the anti internal treatment but i spotted a white cloudy poo this morning. I was told this was parrisites. How do i treat for this?

Also (cant believe it) i think i have been overfeeding. I have 0.50 ppm of ammonia in my tank. I have just done a 50% water change. I am an idiot i have had my fish for 12 months and never done this. My fish have red gills which i thought was due to bacteria problems. Lokks like it is due to the ammonia. I am not going to feed them for a few days to allow the ammonia to drop off. there is no nirite and the nitrate is at 10ppm. How silly am i. Any advise on what i should do from here would be really helpfull.

Long stringy poo can be bacterial infection, internal parasites, constipation.

What do you feed your fish.

Internal parasites signs are.
Long stringy white poo, or clear mucas poo.
Worms prutruding from the anus.
Enlarged anus or red and inflamed anus.
Being skinny or bloated.
Sunken in belly.
Bent spines sometimes.

I feed my fish tetra pro colour and jmc cat pellets, coujette and somtimes peas. Stringy white poo and i have seen it a little clear aswell today. is there a link between ammonia and the parisites. just done a ammonia test and it is at 0ppm after the large water change and 8hrs.

I am so annoyed with my self for over feeding.

Best not to over feed as i've done that in the past and payed the price it makes the fish bloat up.
Any other signs besides the white stringy poo.
Could do with introducing some frozen foods in there diet, daphnia good as it helps the fish digest it food.

I do feed them blood worm now and again. They love that. It come in frozen cubes. I will get some daphnia aswell. I just hope they will be ok. This will explain why they have red gills. I just hope it will settle down in a few days. I am going to skip feeding for a few days to let the tank settle down a little.

Yes ammonia can burn there gills and make them red inflamed.
Brime strimp good aswell fish love it.
Usually clear mucas poo is a sign of internal parasites so if they produce anymore I would worm them.
Water changes and increase aeration as fish find it hard to breath in bad water quality.
Cut down on feeding as you are not doing the fish any favours health wise.

Will do. I am feeling pretty guilty atthe moment because here is me thinking that my water stats are fine when a simple test wuld have told me different. A valualbe lesson learned here for me. Never assume always check!!!

How do i worm the fishys then?
