Spots On Fins

Just added the secone dose. As it recommend adding the dose on the fourth day without a water change. Then it says wait seven days after the second dose before doing a water change or redpsosing again if needed. This sound ok?

I have noticed a difference in the fish that had spots some are even clear but today my black molly is covered with about six on its body.

My understanding of ich is that the parasite goes through a life cycle and can only be killed by the meds while in the free swimming stage. Raising the temp can increase the speed of the life cycle. One thing you want to be EXTRA careful about is to continue to medicate beyond when the symptoms disappear. The cysts can live in the substrate dormant for a while... You hvae to be sure that they are all gone before you stop dosing otherwise it can come back. In my opinion its better to medicate a few extra days than necessary, than for the whole cycle to start all over. As I understand it, even a single remaining parasite can quickly start the whole thing over again, and I'm sure you don't want to go through that, or over stress your fish by having to continue to raise the temp for longer than absolutely necessary.

I totally agree with you eagle. I plan to do a big water change 70 - 80 % in 6 days time and redose the meds again. I will do this even if i do not see any spots just to be sure they are all gone.

I would have done a water change before second dose because by that time, the medication is probably not effective anyway (which is why it is safe to redose) and the water change would have removed many of the parasites already in the water.

#41####, as they say we learn from our mistakes. I did actually think should i do a change but decided to follow the instructions.

Would you leave it another 7 days before a wc and redose or say 4 days then wc and redose if needed ?

I would follow instructions for the first treatment, which are usually 3-4 days, then redose. My addition to that is to always do a water change between doses, before the first and after the last one.

Had ich with my new rams, followed the instruction to the letter on the bottle no water chnages during(i guess there for a reason no?)
I had to half dose due to my snails and sterbai....The ich lasted 3 days i did the full 7 days anyway happy days all gone. I did do 2 40% changes 2 days aprart after treament was complete

Well my last dose has gone in last night after a WC. Looking good so far hope it will stay so.
