Hi I'm new to this forum but bare with me.
I have a 911 case here. Ok maybe not 911 but something strange has happened to my fish tank and I just can't figure out whats going on. So to start I have a five gallon fresh water tank with an under-gravel filter. There are only two small cherry platies with gravel (the rainbow kind, so not exactly made for planted aquariums) and a couple of fake plants. Recently a strange plant has begun to grow in the tank and attached its roots on to the gravel. I never planted any seeds, left any food containing seeds, or provided any such nutrients to the tank. It is mostly out of the sun to prevent algae growth but some still manages to find it's way in. My only theories on how this strange plant has come about is by either from spores on the fish. it's been a couple weeks since I bought them and the plant has been visible for about a week. Any ideas of what could be happening?

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!

could you possibly put up a photo of the plant? or give a detailed description?
cheers
