Sponge Filter

Any ideas on where to find the sponge for a sponge filter like this?

I looked at lowe's they said to try a craft store, did that, they only had hard styrofoam. I've checked petsmart, but they only had small pieces of foam....

Thanks Tolak, I'll definitely check there. Can it be ordered online? Maybe it's silly to ship foam...but it might be worth looking into. I can't really figure out the actual name of the type of foam, other than filter foam....is it made only for fish filters or can you buy it from places other than fish stores?

Lulz they think their's is ugly!

I have the exact same sponge filter thing in one of my tanks. Except instead of that pretty blue cut to shape sponge, I just use filter floss and a pad. Take a handfull of filter floss and wrap it round the pipe. Then take a square filter pad and wrap it round the filter floss. Mine goes almost all the way around. Put some rubber bands around the sponges to hold them in place. Makes one ugly filter, but it works.

Thats sort of what I thought Tolak, thanks for the link though. I'll check my lfs tomorrow.



If I can't find it, I think I might try that Mikaila. I've got a little fish food container-made sponge filter, but I was looking for something a little less ugly. It doesn't really matter though, I'm pretty much the only one who sees the tanks .
