Sponge Filter On Intake

I was just wondering if anyone has put a filter on the intake of an external and if so what they used

basically to stop fry getting sucked in i have tied a piece of floss around at the moment but its black already and cant seem to find anything made for the purpose

Did that plenty when breeding using HOB filters, it's an old trick. Open cell sponge works best, but does need to be cleaned every few days.
