I have to gouramis in a tank that came with it when I bought it second hand.

One is a Moonligh Gourami, one a Golden Gourami. For a while in the begining the Moonlight bullied the Golden a little bit, a few nips and also the Golden's feelers were nipped back to about 1/3 of their original size. Things ave clmed own recently and their is only the occasional charge of the Moonlight at the Golden.

However the Monlight is nw quite large about 4" I am thinking of moving him to a 240L tank (the Golden staying in the 60L) tank.

Does this sound like a good move? I have not seen mention of the need for "company" with these fish.

Thanks

Move both of them into that 260 litre. Make sure it's very planted. Put the golden in two days before you put the moonlight in.

The tanks bigger so they won't fight.

Are you saying that they need to stay together? My preference would be for the golden to stay in the tank its in unless this is not suitable for the fish.

Hi StatMan :)

Like bettas, male gouramis don't seem to need company, although the more peaceful females tend to swim together. Males are often aggressive to females as well as other males. Do you know the gender of your gouramis?

Whatever they are, I would separate them if they are not getting along.

As Inch said, they don't need company and will be fine on their own.
You could try them both in the bigger tank but there are no guarantees that they will get along, especially if they are both males.
If you are happy enough to keep them in seperate tanks, then I would do that.

Agree with what everyone else is stating

60L isn't big enough for one of these gouramis long term and at 4inches they are going to be mature adults, which are fighing for a territory.
Add them both to the 240L as there will be plenty of room for multiple territories

But as Miah002 said it should be very well planted as they will do better. It also breaks up the line of sight for the moon so it will make it harder for the gouramis to swim into eachother....or so to speak.

The reason i suggested on putting both in the 240 was because a 60 litre is too small for the golden gourami.

As reesy said if it were heavily planted then this would brake their line of sight which would give them enought space to make their territorys, it will also break their line of sight which would prevent fighting.

Sometimes that works, but sometimes it doesn't. It's worth a try anyway. :D
