well, now that my betta community is about to explode (thanks to yeevia!!! :D ) i am going to have several divided tanks. i have heard that people sometimes change the bettas positions, so they don't get bored of their flaring partner.

is this okay to do in divided tanks or should i just keep them in the same tanks all the time? they will be unfiltered with 100% water changes when the partners change(except for 1 cycled divided 5 gal).

don't worry yeevia - i won't separate the special couple!!

Good idea, i keep males next to females in two way split tanks and females in the inside and males on the outside of more then three way split tanks. I just don't want the boy killing eachother or becoming super stressed from compettition. Spawning is perfered to a dead betta because i can deal with many little ones, but a dead betta i would not be able to replace.

Unless they look/act unhealthy, i don't see a problem with a little variation, it gives them entertainment.

You can try putting two tsunami together in a bigger tank. I think they might get alone together as long as got space for her to hide if he become dominent. I think tsunami and Malaysia can get along. I am not sure for Newfishies thailand and sumatra can put together or not. They might breed. Hahahaha Anyway, tsunami babies are all together in a tank anyway. If they bite, then saperated them into two tank.
:D

It depends on whether water is shared between the partitions I think. I had a 5 gallon divided tank and both fish got Ich and Finrot at the same time last December.

If water is shared I probably would not move them around too much. Infections, like Ich, Velvet and Dropsy start a few days before they can be detected. I am not sure when they become contagious. If you move the around at the wrong time you could have four sick fish instead of two.
