Spikey my 2nd betta was brought on the 19th of September,

He was housed with 20 or so male guppies :(

And his fins were in terrible condition, which is why i say rescued

Now nearly a month later.....
He has been slowly improving :) And eating very healthy. Aprrox. 5 pellets aday (he loves Hikari Pellets) , Bloodworm pellet once every 2 weeks and also fasting once a week, along with a deshelled pea which i feed all my fishies once a week.

This is him now :D Slowly Improving.

He looks like a VT, Whatya think? :D

his regrowth looks great! well done you.
as far as tail type that is difficult to positively say until some more growth happens. i wouldnt rule out that he is a delta/superdelta. he is a nice looking fish.
cheers

Update: 14/10/09

He has some fin growing near his pelvic fin, i think it may be part of his anal fin, but it must have tore off sometime before i got him.

He also made a bubble nest today, which is out of the norm, maybe because he has 2 new friends nextdoor. lol

Any idea on tail type?

that bit is certainly from his anal fin. the inbetween will grow back too. but it takes a long time. as for tail type, still hard to say, but dont rule out delta/superdelta. certainly not CT or HM (or PK  ). COULD be VT but the spread seems like a lot. but with his shorty little fins it may look deceiving. give it a couple more weeks and try again :)
he is looking very well cared for and is a lovely guy!
cheers

Oscar went into Spikeys section of the tank, they had a massive fight. I only noticed after as Spikey was laying on the tank floor panting :( :(
His fins are shredded badly, Back to Square 1 :(

They are even worse than what they were when i brought him. :/

with my first two boys in a divided tank the same thing happened to me. luckily i saw it happen and quickly took action to separate them. but not before MASSIVE damage was done on both ends. check the divider for any gaps. even the SMALLEST overlooked gap they will try to go thru. so make sure it is snug against the sides of the tank and buried into the substrate!(so they cant go under it).
do a big waterchange and keep the water good and clean to prevent infection. offer protein foods to help start regrowth. poor guy:(
just keep an eye on him for signs of infection but dont medicate with anything until something shows up. might be worth soaking his fod in garlic juice to help boost the immune system. a healthy fish, even if stressed out like i imagine hed be after that can fight off diseases/infection much easier than one who is not so.
keep us posted for changes/improvements.
for this exact reason i wont keep divided tanks anymore. i think it was more traumatic for me to see them rip at each other than it was for the fish. and that was almost 2 years ago and today you'd never know there was any sort of injury to their fins (yes, i still have them).
cheers and best of luck.

Thanks Lorax, i have put him in QT, in a 10l tank, but i only filled it up to around 7l, so he doesnt have to go that high for air, i have put Java fern (his sleeping place) and Elodea Densa (added oxygen) in the tank. Also 1 almond leaf.
Hes in a warm, dark room atm. Will do daily water changes, till he gets better.

About the garlic thing, how do you do that?

get some whole garlic and smash it with the side of the knife(basically lay the knife on the clove of garlic sideways-helps to use a wide blade- and use your fist to give it a good whack...the skin should come off easily this way...then chop it up and roll the food around in the garlic so that it absorbs some of the "juice")...either that way, or they sell jarred garlic already chopped up that has some "juice" in it...so with a spoon take some of the juice from the jar and saok the pellets in it. use the actual garlic to cook :)
cheers
