So this is only really practical in small tanks, but for anyone who gets Ich in a small gravel tank (or maybe sand, who knows) -- I just had an outbreak in my 10 gallon QT tank and the first thing I did was move the fish for an hour or so and completely remove the substrate and changed the substrate. I already had sand on hand so it made sense to me. Anyways, I got all the gravel and old sand out, rinsed the tank well, and put new sand in. I've only been treating for like 3 days and almost everyone looks back to 100%. I'm not sure if what I did 'really' helped, but it sure seems to have sped everything up and I'm sure got rid of most of the Ich that was hiding anywhere in the substrate.

Anyways, I know it isn't practical for a big tank, but I thought I'd share my experience since it worked so well.
