hi i'm going to start a big community aquarium and was told that the fish i chose would go well together, but now i just need to know what temp, water hardness, pH, etc would be a nice happy medium that all the fish would be happy with. the following fish are all the different kinds i'm getting.

3 clown loaches
2 flame gouramis
2 neon blue dwarf gouramis
3-5 guppies ( not sure ) -_-
1 bristlenose catfish
7 neon tetras

Thanks

Sorry to not answer your question, but out of interest, what are the dimensions and water capacity of the tank?

its a 55g (US) tank and i will move the clown loaches to a larger tank when they outgrow this one.

You'll never get specs for all those fish, the optician won't be able to make them small enough. Maybe the fish would be better with contact lenses?

Hey B)
A site I have bookmarked is "http://www.liveaquaria.com/". I find it has some decent profiles of fish. Found a few of the ones on your list. I have other site I can find in my bookmarks if you want.

Happy 'speck' hunting.

Seriously though. I'm not sure about the water requirements of all those fish, but I can tell you that they won't all be the same.
Best to just check your tap water, and see if your fish are ok in that rather than messing around with water sofnters/hardners and Ph adjusters. You'll only end up constantly testing and adjusting your water, and probably with loads of massive Ph swings that will kill half your fish anyway!!!
I have clown loaches and neon tetras in water with a Ph of 7.8-8.2 and they are perfectly happy, so don't go too much by what the books say.
If you don't live too far from your LFS, you may find that you are on the same water supply as them, so the fish you buy may already be tolerant of high/low Ph anway!

Tjimbsoj, you need to tell me what kind of fish that is in your signature! Not to sound needy or anything ;)
the fish in his signature is a BGK, or Black Ghost Knife.

Eelzor wrote a great profile on them in the fish profile sections

thanks i'll try looking up individual specs for them i guess.
