I posted something on here yesterday that I was considering going species specific with my fish tank. Its always been Amazon themed, but I've really gotten into Silver Dollars. I have two Silver Dollars currently as well as a Red Hook Silver Dollar. Upon another recent post someone told me I needed more Silver Dollars, so its making me consider the species specific thing again.

Yesterday I posted approximate dimentions of my tank and a bunch of people said my tank was too small to house a shoal of Silver Dollars. Well, I finially manged to find a measuring devise and got the exact dimentions of the tank.

Gallons: 75
Height: 1 foot, 5 inches
Width: 1 foot, 5 inches
Length: 4 feet

How many Silver Dollars could I fit in the tank? What about Red Hook Silver Dollars? Any room for any other fish?

For a healthy shoal of silver D your looking at a 6ft minimum, its simply unfair to keep them in anything less :) if you like larger fish you can easily have 4/5 angels in a 75, discus are an option too.

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably just keep a mixed Amazonian tank then. We've had Angels before and they've never reall lived that long, maybe a few years max.

I like Discus, but I've heard horror stories about how sensitive they are to water and our pH is notoriously off the wall. Though knock on wood we haven't had any pH problems since we bought a buffer....but I'd hate to spend $50 on a fish and have it croak in a few days.

Is my tank big enough for the Silver Dollars I have now though? I hate the thought of having fish in a tank too small.
