please let me know what it is asap thanks

My Webpage

Awww, looks like a midas/red devil to me
They get 12+" and require a 55 gallon tank at the very least, 75+ gallons would be better. They're also evil little buggers, and I don't think it would be wise to chance tankmates in a tank smaller than 125 gallons, and even then you'd have to be careful about it. They're very intelligent and interactive though, great pets :)

it doesn't have the shape of a red devil though. anymore suggestions?

There is a lot of confusion between Midas cichlid and red devil as both are common names for the folowing cichlids:

Amphilophus/Cichlasoma citrinellus
Amphilophus/Cichlasome Labiatum

If you do a google image for Amphilophus citrinellus or Amphilophus labiatum you will see your fish.

hi just updating my forum, this fish that i have been trying to find out what it is, is paired up with a pearl flowerhorn, i was wondering if i was to keep the babies, how much would the retail price be? and would it be hard to sell, being cross bred and all?

Is your mystery fish a flowerhorn also? I'm thinking that if the species aren't too closely related, the eggs will end up infertile.

Are there just eggs right now, or have they already hatched into fry? You might be able to sale them to a lfs, but I think you would have better luck selling them on Aquabid. Couldn't tell you a good price to set them at though.

If you do sell them, you will have a fair chance getting rid of them. A lot of people find them cute, and like them, but just as many people are very against hybrids, and might give you a bad reputation if you were to sell fish again. But I do think it would be fairly easy to sell them. Ask your lfs if they would be interested in some possible young hybrid cichlids. Worth a shot.

the egg's have turned to fry, im guessing that the fish that i have on here could be a breed of red texas cichlid, and if im right that is closely related to the flowerhorn, it will be interesting to see what the fry turn out like. ruffly what do you think they would be worth so i dont get ripped off from the lfs? how much would i sell them for if i were to sell them myself?

You won't be able to sell them for a lot. Most people won't be interested in buying a fish for any more than they could at their LFS and, being unremarkable hybrids, it's unlikely that there will be much interest. You'll end up with a lot more fry, most probably, than you can sell yourself. I would settle for what the LFS is willing to give and be thankful.

Your fish is shaped like a red devil/midas from what I can see in the pic, it is just young and/or a female. The nuchal hump doesn't develop in males until the fish is more mature, and in females it may not develop at all. I don't have any experience with red Texas cichlids, but judging by the pics I've seen I don't think yours could be one, the colours just don't look anything like it to me, don't you agree? I also think the shape is a little off; your fish has a higher forehead, which is characteristic of red devils and midas.
Red Texas

In any case I thought I'd mention that flowerhorns themselves are hybrids, since I noticed no one had thrown that out there, so your fry are hybrids of hybrids, lol. Some hybrids of flowerhorns, like bloodparrot x flowerhorns, are worth something, but they go by different names (like kamfas) so you'd never know by the name what they actually are unless you are knowledgeable about flowerhorns. I'd recommend messaging the member _cRaCkEr_ about it, he breeds flowerhorns and could probably tell you if the fry are worth anything :)

This looks very much like an adult Parrot. The mottled orange and brown and the horrible "i've been hit in the head with a 2X4" look. The Parrots usually don't live long enough to take on this coloring. If you have a slightly clearer pic I could tell for sure.

Ok, let's try to settle this with visuals.

These are all midas/red devils and hybrids of the two. There are hundreds of pictures on that link. As you will see, they come in all sorts of colours and vary from huge nuchal humps to almost none at all. Look long enough and you will see a fish almost identical to the one in this thread, I'm sure.

This is a red Texas cichlid. As you can see, the face shape does not match the fish from this thread, and the fish also doesn't have the pearly colour highlights typical of Texas cichlids.

This is a parrot. I don't think I need to elaborate on that one, do I? Generally only young BPs are mottled like the fish on this thread and they turn solid orange as they age, not the other way around, though I've been seeing them in several different colour varieties lately. Either way, the shape is completely wrong for the fish in this thread to be a BP, though it is thought that BPs are midas hybrids of some sort, so this is probably where the similarities come from.
