i am spawning Gomenasai and Haiku, and now i just released Haiku, she got her stripes and flared! she chased Gomenasai around the tank ripping his fins!!

Gomenasai is still displaying but not verry sexy looking.

Haiku is realy ready to breed!! (i think)

i am a little scared she will kill him!!

the ripping has stopped for now..but what next??

How long did you have her in the chimney for Taylor? How eggy is she? What temp is the spawning tank?

Sorry lots of questions but I need an idea of what your set up is before I can suggest anything.

she was in the chimney for 2 days, kept jumping out at night, so i put a plastic thing over her.

she is round, i dont know how to tell how eggy she is, last time i tried to spawn her she got exited and dropped her eggs when i touched the chimney!! she didnt even look verry eggy then.

the temp is 79F

my set up is a 10 gallon, it has java moss, java ferns(with one leaf) and spathiphylllum.

also a big IAL and a ceramic turtle for her to hide but i dont think she needs it.

she is now completely ignoring the boy unless he comes over and flares and swims back to the nest , then she flares and he looks like he is going to pee himself (do fish pee? )
and she is tiny!

Can you try to get a pic of her so I can see how big she is?

Remember it can take 24hrs or more sometimes for them to get together and it may be that she's released her eggs overnight and eaten them.

how long untill she gets eggy again?

OK.....you should be more carefull.....butter fingers

I would re-condition her for another week or two and try again. I had a girl release her eggs in the chimney. Luckily I was there as soon as she started and let her out quickly. She went straight under the nest and spawned. Luckily a few eggs were fertilised and we ended up with 20 babies, one of which was Kimono.

it isnt my fault! my phone needs to be tougher!

and how do you get them to go under the nest so well??

Lol.....excuses!!!

We usually have the female in the chimney for 2 days, then we release for a couple of hours in the evening and chimney back up overnight and release again the next day. Most times they have spawned within 10 mins on the second release. If not then we've chimneyed up again overnight and released again the next day. If nothing happens after the 3rd go, then we put them both back in their tanks to re-condition.
