I'm so happy!

I caught Jovi and Francois spawning today!!! :D

I saw them sort of wrap and I saw the eggs come out and be placed back in the nest. It's been a fair few hours since, but Francois isn't guarding the nest. Does that mean there are no eggs in there or do they not guard the nest the whole time?

Did they finish and you take out the female? Or are they still in there at it?

The female is still in there and they don't seem to be spawning anymore, but he isn't even under the nest.

If they have stopped wraping then take her out and leave him to it for a bit, he should start tending the nest, adding more bubbles etc. He may be put off by the fact there is a female there x

Thanks Maddie!

I'll give it a go.

I really hope it works this time. They are the pair I wanted to spawn originally but the male seemed to hate the female. After Bronze and Laura's advice, he actually let her under his nest to wrap!

It's been about 14hrs since I've taken the female out, and Francois still isn't under his nest.

I don't think this spawn is going to work  :-( :-( :-(

Here is a photo of Francois bubblenest...

I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me if they can see eggs in there? I know it's not the best pic, but hopefully someone knows how to photoshop and make it clear :D

I might add aswell that the view is from the top.

Ok well I know there are definately NO eggs.

The bubblenest has started to break up, and Francois isn't even trying to re-build it.

I don't understand?

I've witnessed 2 spawns, and both times nothing has come out of them.

All my knowledge comes from lot's of reading and fantastic advice from netty and bronzecat and from spending hours online reading, hehe! So credit should go to the others not me :p

Heya hun, I don't know what to suggest about the pair, did you actually see her dropping eggs?

x

Yes I did!

I saw them wrap and I saw some eggs come out. Not many, but there were definately some.

Then I saw them both put them in their mouths and I assume put them in the nest.

I guess then it's likely they ate the eggs :(

How long did you condition for? Were both given a load of food just before releasing her? Also were is your tank placed? It may be an idea to have it somewhere quiet but where you can see exactly what it is they are up to. I have my spawning tank next to my pc, I can see in through all sides of the tank apart from the back - this allowed me a clear view of the wrapping, egg collecting and placing of the eggs in the nest. He'll go down, get as many eggs as he can and then straight to the nest to spit them in.

Maybe try a new female? Condition them both from now until gone new year and try again when you can see what is going on, it may just be he is an egg eater and no amount of tries will change that :/
