Spawning Angels

hi i was just woundering how i can get my angels to spawn

1 to see what genders they are

2 i have 3 angels my biggest always bullys the other two

3 how do i tell what gender they are with out spawning ? ill upload some pictures tomorrow if you wonted to have a look at my biggest angel he/she is in the feb fotm thread

You cant sure fire 100% tell the gender of angels until they are spawning.

Dang also how do they pair off I have 3 chances are I bet they are all male lol do I just keep buying angels until I get a pair lol

There is a mathematical graph somewhere that shows you the odds of getting a breeding pair, 2 angels is 50%, and i think 6 is 98.9% chance of getting at least 1 pair.

I bought 6 angels, and ended up with 2 breeding pairs eventually.

i honestly wouldnt try to breed angles if i were you as they become very territorial when they spawn and have been known to kill other fish, while they are protecting there fry, so i would recommend that you dont breed these in your community tank

Yea this is certainly true, im having to get rid of 4 angels tomorrow to try calm the carnage, they seem to be ok with other fish (unless laying eggs) but my angels at the minute fight non-stop with each other. 1 Pair seem to actively patrol the tank looking for fights.

Hhm perhaps when my other fish die off in the many years to come perhaps ill think about breeding them then
