Hi all! Ok, so I have been cycling my new tank for my pregnant platy for about 2 1/2 days now now and am wondering when I should put her in. I am using the older filter cartridge and filter from my main tank in it, and am using a newly purchased filter for my main tank in it's place. The new tank contains tank water and I have moved some gravel from the old tank into the new tank and have been testing my swordtail in there for about 2 hours. He seems to be pretty happy and isn't showing any bad signs. The reason I'd like to move her in is because she has been having singular spasms every once in a while and I'm wondering if it could be stress. Also any estimation on how long until she gives birth? @Colin_T @AdoraBelle Dearheart

Here is a picture of the new tank:

Ok, so this morning she was swaying side to side and hiding inside one of the houses in the tank. I'm not sure if this is a sign that she is almost ready to give birth?

Spasms aren't caused by stress. They can be from poor water quality or an infection in the brain.

You don't want to remove all the filter media from the established filter otherwise the tank will cycle again. If you did remove all the established filter media from the main tank, then cut the media in half and put half in each filter.

You need a sponge on the filter intake to stop the babies being sucked up.

You need lots more plants in the container for the female and babies.
