Obviously I do need to cycle my spare tank.

Question is, if i needed in a emergency could I just 'throw' the fish/plants in a uncycled tank?

I am on the look out for an additional tank (2ft) so if a emergency comes I can resolve it quickly with a separate tank for breeding/emergencies/quarantine. (would like to keep new fish away from mature fish in the community tank)

One of the reasons is that I want to change my tank over to a different stand, so i will need to remove some/most of the water then change the stands around. (This isn't a emergency and I can afford to cycle a new tank before i need to do this).

Thanks in advance for your view and reply.

Regards

If you use the filter that was on the mature tank you should be ok. But if its a filter just for the quarintine tank then it should be cycled first.

Probably just run the new filter with the old one on your current tank for a few weeks, then transfer it over. Feed it with ammonia. You could probably just throw your fish in there in an emergency, as long as you did very frequent water changes.
