I'm trying to get hold of up to 3 SAP's. I've been looking for a while but haven't found any within a reasonable distance. I'd rather not go through the mail order route, done it before with 4. 1 DOA and another 2 dead within 3 days. Hence my lone puffer needs some mates. I know it's a long shot but if anybody has any or knows of an LFS with any I'd be very happy to hear about it. Preferably within 30 miles of Bristol.
Thanks

That's my local fish shop... They have a massive sign across the window saying if they havnt got it and you want it then they will get it so it may be worth a try there...

They are also quite cheap for fish/dry goods and do loyalty cards so you get discount after 5 purchases (certainly came in handy when I had to buy a new filter for my tank)

Thanks Amy, been ringing them this morning but no reply.
I didn't even know the place existed. I went to Cribbs yesterday for the first time in a year but turned off the 38 up the new bit of road, probably a couple of hundred yards before the shop!!!

I have rang a few times today with no answer so I ended up going down there...
They were really busy so just keep trying :)

I did finally get through, they didn't have any and I guessed from his voice and the noise that he was busy so when he didn't offer, I didn't ask for a special order. Yet. I spoke to Pat at Parkers, he's got pretty much all puffers bar SAP's by the sounds of it, but he's going to phone next week if he can get some healthy ones.
Thanks for the suggestions, at least it's somewhere else for me to "browse", though it's got to the point where I have to leave my wallet in the car when I go into an LFS

Bit further than 30 miles, but Aquajardin in Fairoak (Southampton) had at least three on Sunday!

They do have stores in Newent and Haresfield, much closer to you, which they might be able to arrange transfer to? These SAPs are the last remaining few from a batch that arrived in Fairoak round about late September, so they are pretty well settled after the long distance travelling they did.

Haha I know how you feel!
My partner and his dad took me to the Lfs yesterday, banned me from taking my purse and would only buy me some fish food :(

Thanks for the top tip. Typically i've now got a white spot problem and i've had to have a major emergency move round, so the tank the puffers would go in is now looking so "busy" There's not even room for food let alone SAP's.
At the moment i've got 20 guppy's having a lovely time swimming in the current. With my SAP. Who's loving the company. At the moment.

puffers are really prone to WS due to their skin type. so keep a close eye see him rubbing on things if he show symptoms isolate and treat asap.

and also your guppy's keep you puffer fed gppd as to keep his hunger supressed they are oppertunists, you may have to travel a bit further to get your other sap puffers, i know that wenvoe maidenhead aquatics (in cardiff) and in cwmbran (newport) had about 20 SAPS each instock rarely run out and if they do will reserve them for you for 2 weeks, you can call and reserve but will only hold phone orders for a few hours.

Cheers mate. I fed all the fish a bit more than normal, waited half hour then put 4 bloodworm cubes in the tank. 1 minute later i turned the lights off and put the guppy's and rasboras in. The plan was that the "big fish" would be so busy eating the blkoodworm that the smaller fish could go for cover and get their bearings. When I turned the light back on the tank was swarming with ALL the fish eating bloodworm. Oh well.
