Hello all...
havent been on in awhile because i was on spring break...

but i came back and wen i did one of my females "wine fine" had passed....
and mysteriously 1 of my corydoras is M.I.A...
hmmm.....

well im sad shes gone but relieved the others are still alive...

all of them however are swimming along "closed finned" like they were terribly stressed....
not one of the is swimming and showing their lovely fins...

and oddly enough two of my girls has taken to layin face down in the gravel with her tail in the air...
wen i move the gravel near her or the plant shes near.. she quickly gets up and swims along as if nothin ever happennend ...
anyone know why they could be layin in the gravel like this...

and one of my females had little itsy bitsy white spots all over her body.. what could this be?

Do the white spots look like specs of salt on her?
It might be ich.
Also sounds like there could be a bacterial infection. Did the dead girl have any nips out of her like the other fish were nibbling on her?

Also you need to find that cory. If it's dead, it's still in the tank and is dirtying up the water.

Test the water, and then do a water change. If all stats are fine, then I'd do a 30-40% change. I would then get some kind of med that treats for bacterial infections and start that ASAP.

Def sounds like whitespot. I'd turn up temp and add salt (not table salt) and also start treatment of an anti internal bacteria medication for the one thats going nose down in gravel. good luck

Dusky, I think she may have cory's in the female tank, if so then I don't think you can treat with salt :)

my female betta was doing that a couple of days before she died

she was just swimming around as normal until the last couple of days, thats when she was head down tail up in the gravel

hope she gets better real soon

:good:

thanks

paul

Ah didnt see that bit,, i'm not sure. Maybe best if they went into something else while the others were being treated or it's just going to get worse. Something needs to be done though and asap by sound of it. Modaz will know :)

Ok i've just been doing some research. Some say it kills corys,, another says its fine.and that its been used with their corys with no ill effects.....who do you believe???

I've got Corys in with Strudel and have always avoided using salt just in case. We used Parazoryne when he had white spot which is chemical free. I think I would err on the side of caution and maybe move the cory's out for a while if using salt.

yes the spots do look like specs of salt..

and no the fish didnt look as if she had been nibbledon.. but i did see the corys near her as if he were eating off of her...

i looked through the whole tank like a crazy woman.. i couldnt find that cory anywhere.... and i know im not crazy lol

ok so my fish have Ich now.....
wow.. look what i have come back 2.. poor babies...

what is the best way to treat Ich, and i could move my corys to another tank if a salt treatment is in need.. i have plenty of aquarium salt on hand...

but im not sure why my fish keep laying on the bottom underneath rocks and plants...

Move the corys. Turn up the temp, do the salt and an internal parasite med. When one of mine was nose down the internal parasite med made him well again.

thanx.. well i found out what happenned to the other cory....

he found his itsy bitsy eaten remains in the tank wen i fully cleaned it out today.... yea...

oh.. and another question.. i jus noticed one of my girls looks as if shes missing some scales.. i kno that could be because she may have gotten into it wih one of the other girls.. but wat else could that possibly be?
