Well, I have been treating my tank for a breakout of columnaris for the past week. I lost two fish, one was the mom to some 30 babies so was vulnerable to disease at the time, and the other was a very small guppy. The remaining three guppies and two plecos show no apparent signs of the disease and the treatment is completed, although Im carrying it on a few days past what the box said just to be sure.

My question: Would you put the pregnant moms, who are just bursting lol, in a breeder in the fry tank, or do you think that runs the risk of transeferring the disease (even though it appears to be gone)? Or do you think I should leave them in the breeder on the side of the main tank, in which case they would have to be moved after a while because they will be too big and also where they wont get greaat filtration as the box is pretty much completely sealed off from the rest of the tank.

Also, if you think it is safe to put them in the fry tank, have you ever had a problem with the fry already in the tank swimming through the grate into the breeder with the mom or are they smart enough to just stay away?

Thank you all! (especially for bearing with a newbie with a bazillion questions  )

I think you have treated it enough to move them.

As for the fry tank problem, I would put lots of hiding places in their just in case.

Oh my goodness, this has got to be the funniest thing Ive ever seen. I figured I would float the breeder in the fry tank for a little bit to see if the babies went into it through the grates in the bottom. I went in, expecting to see maybe one or two, hopefully none, in there and guess what? Every Single One was in there. Maybe THREE were left in the tank. What is their problem?! LOL. Silly fishies. Sooo, new plan. I guess I will just put the bottom piece in and when mom is done having babies Ill take her out and release the babies right into the tank.
