I have been cycling my new tank for what seems to be ages now and have contented myself with fiddling with it, buying ornaments, buying some plants etc. I ordered a load of plants of ebay and they should arrive tomorrow. I have been tesing the water ever other day and doing partial water changes. I've been reading all the posts and asking some questions, looking at fish sites, planning the community. Not long now. I will do some more tests to ensure the stat's are as they should be and stable so in a week or so it looks like I'll have something more than plants to look at. I'm so excited I could do the 'olde fenlande getting some fish soon' dance involving nakedness, wellie boots and a strategically placed bullrush :hyper:
The almost final list of fish is (26 gallon tank, heavily planted) 10 zebra danios
3 blue coral platys
4 yoyo loach
4 algae shrimp
3 pearl gourami and possibly 2 angel fish.

I will also be getting another larger tank as soon as I find one to set up a cichlid tank and may bring in one of the 8 gallong tanks for a betta since I really like them a lot.

i bet you cant wait till you get some fish in, it seems to take forever dosent it.. I have 3 yo yo loaches and they are lovely little fish, really fun to watch, hungry little beggers tho

The waiting game. painful isn't it.

Word of warning.. i waited ages like you, to ensure i could give the fish a good home in a cycled tank, but had a few casualties. Two of my casualties were my Angelfish. They proved the point that a cycled tank does not mean a mature tank to me. I learnt the hard way i'm afraid, as they were my favourites. I would suggest adding them last, and even waiting a few months before adding them..

Keep it up though, its worth the wait.. and just as a precaution, i would do the naked dance with wellies out of sight of the neighbours. They have laws against that you know :D

I will wait for the angels as I'm still not 100% sure about them.
My neighbours are well used to my olde' fenlande' dancing lol. After me yelling "oh you clever doggy, what a wonderful boooootiful poop, it's the nicest poop in the world" while housetraining a new or foster dog, or going outside in thunderstorms, capering about shouting "yippeee yippeee" and playing ball games with the dogs (helps get scared dogs accustomed to loud thunder) a little nekkid dancing is tame by comparison. Just thank your lucky stars I'm not your neighbour lolol.
I actually get on really well with my neighbours, they are brill'.

pmsl, that really made me chuckle!!

where abouts in the fens do you live anyway?

personally i think that stocking list is a bit too much for a 26g tank. not massivley but i'd look at cutting something out.

and yeah wait for a mature tank for angels if you do decide to get them
