This morning my girlfriend noticed tiny (very tiny) white thingies swimming/moving about.

One was gobbled up by one of the larger (maybe9-10mm) dwarf neon rainbow fry.

Where are these things coming from, we are feeding some ''first bites'' food and wardley ''liquid food'', and recently i've been grinding some dried brime shrimp cubes to get a fine ''brime shrimp powder'' kinda food.

Could there be live foods in the liquid food? Or are these white swimmers born in tank? Are they harmful??

it's probably planaria, caused by overfeeding. In a fry tank they're not too oncommon. Far as I'm aware, they do no harm.

It however cant hurt to wait for more respondses, I'm not a 100% certain if fry indeed wont be affected. Plus it's spring, perhaps it's not planaria but larvae of some kind.

What exactly does it look like? If it looks a bit like an underwater scorpion/insect then it is probably a dragonfly larvae or other insect larvae of some sort which may explain why it ate one of your fry because they are carnivorous as many eat fry and tadpoles/other bugs in the wild and usually live in ponds/lakes/rivers.

Here's a link with lots of dragonfly/bettle/insect larvae pics on if you scroll down a bit;

Such insects are not that uncommon at this time of year and can end up in our beloved tanks- i would remove the intruder and put it in a pond/river/lake somwhere that doesn't have fish in or kill it otherwise it will just eat more fry.

NO no!

The thing didnt eat a fry! It was eaten by a fry. It's white and about the size of a grain of salt, with a little wiggly tail.

Kinda looks like sperm maybe (and NO, i didnt do that over the fry tank!) :p

whoops sorrys :fun:

then its probably planaria like the other person said- not a problem but it is a sign you are overfeeding a bit.

What you're seeing sounds too small to be planaria. Planaria are pretty darn small, but they're not grain-of-sand small. If you're feeding liquifry, then I think it's probably some type of infurosia, which are teeny tiny living organisms. Some of them can be seen with the naked eye, but only just barely. I've got a pretty good population going in my betta breeding tank for the fry (if I ever manage to get any,) and I can sometimes see the little white wigglies crawling on the glass :nod:
