I have an unknown type of fish, which was called a "Dolphin Fish" when it was sold to me. I have two, one larger than the other and both in a 50 gallon tank with two Gourami's, one Betta, one Pleco and one other unknown. I think it's a shark hybrid.

Anyway, until recently everything has been fine. I went out of town and came back to some trouble. My Betta fish is extremely bloated and it is due to constipation(I hope) and seems to be doing better. I have put him in a smaller tank for the time being.

My dolphin fish, named Dakk, is having a little bit more trouble than I can handle. He refuses to eat and on this very night has started to roll over and swim into things. At first he would just right himself but now he just lays on the bottom of the tank on his back and just sits there. I don't know what to do, and these fish were kind of expensive so it'd be within my best interest to try and seek help. His gills keep moving so I assume he's breathing. One gill, his right, sometimes doesn't move but I was just assuming it was personal preference as the other dolphin, Pen, does the same thing and is a picture of health.

Yes, I am new at this, so any help would be appreciated.

It took me a while but i was able to find a scientific name "Mormyrus lapinus" is most commonly refered to as the dolphin fish. This fish has very little data on it. It is related to elephant-nose fish and you dolphin fish will get big around 17".They need meaty food so try some bloodworms. This was the only page i could find about them in the aquaria.

Hope that helps -_-

Amazing! I've been trying to find their name for quite some time now. Thank you very much.
